Course Description

Approaches to Economic Development in North Carolina require multiple techniques .  This year's recertification course will focus on methods and tools that both large and small communities might consider in approaches in their Economic Development efforts.  East Carolina University and the NC Economic Development Association are offering a Recertification workshop with the following areas: 

  • Attraction is a key cornerstone of Economic Development requiring collaboration among many community stakeholders and is accomplished by Public Private Partnerships.  In this portion of the workshop examples and lessons learned will be shared of Innovative approaches to Public Private Partnerships in Charlotte.

  • Incentive and grants have long been used in Economic Development Recruitment efforts.  In this workshop, discussions on current focus areas, considerations for project funding along with tools available from NC Commerce will be discussed. 

  • Also, effective economic development program organizational structures for projects and offices will be shared.
